Paperwork
When you are signing up for something there is always paperwork . . in the case of NAF, the amount and nature of the paperwork will depend mostly on where you live and the particular arrangements you want to make for yourself or for the donor on who's behalf you are acting.
If you only want to preserve neural tissue but want the rest of the body to go through a normal funeral process, then only the paperwork for the neural tissue preservation is needed by NAF (although we might make recommendations about a particular Funeral Director to use). If you decide (as some of our donors do) to donate your body to Science, then NAF needs to be involved with the relevant paperwork for that exercise as well (it is important that the Medical School receiving the body is aware - IN ADVANCE OF RECEIVING THE BODY - that the brain will be going to NAF). Donating your body to Science also simplifies the procedure for NAF because we can co-operate with the Medical School for the brain extraction.
